RULE BOOK FORMAT
The ERCU Board of Directors has received significant feedback that the rule book needed to be updated for more accuracy in the rules, elimination of redundancies, and making it easier to find rules. The format has been updated and modeled after H1 Unlimited's 2024 rule book, divided into three documents including the Racing Rules; Technical Manual; and General Rules. None of the three documents are longer than seven pages.
No rules were changed arbitrarily in this process, and the Competition Committee's recommendations have been incorporated into the changes within the documents below for your review.
Each of the manuals, with edits, are provided for member review. In the case of deletions, the deletion was made when a rule was redundant or obsolete (i.e. CD duties have evolved over club history; some rules were listed twice in different places, etc.)

CLASSES:
CURRENT RULE:
Section D in current rule book.
There shall be two divisions within ERCU: 1/10-scale and 1/7-scale
Each division will support three classes;
Vintage:
The vintage class is defined as displacement, step, pre-1950 Ventnor 3-point, and all boats with a round nose, typical of the design of boats in the 1950s and 1960s.
Classic:
The classic class will be all picklefork boats that ran with piston power, typical of the boats in the 1970s and 80s, including the 1980 four-point Miss Circus Circus.
Modern:
The modern class will be all boats that incorporate a picklefork configuration running with turbine power, typical of most boats starting in the 1990s and running to the present, including the four-point 1994 Miss Elam.
Classic and modern class boats will run together in the same class at all races until such a time that there are consistently has enough boats in each class to be able to have two sections for each class (minimum three each) to justify running split classes for an event.

A request to "fix" this rule was submitted to the Board and then to the Competition Committee by a number of members requesting specificity and accuracy of representation of boats running in each class. The Competition Committee asked that the board make a recommendation on this to the membership. The Board of Directors recommends passage.
