Notes about the Model: This model debuted during the 2018 season, after a long winter build by Nelson Holmberg. It's the second boat he's ever built start to finish and it did have some issues that needed to be fixed. Unfortunately, the testing time he had was at the races. With a full winter to work on the boat and try new things in testing, the Atlas is expected to be a stronger performer in 2019. This model also took second place in the hobbies show at the Clark County Fair in 2018.

Notes about the Real Boat: One of the most famous, and most successful Rolls Merlin-powered boats ever, the 1983 Atlas Van Lines is legendary. The boat won the 1982 national championship then underwent safety changes to the cockpit, which was lowered and put driver Chip Hanauer into a reclined position in the cockpit, and buckled him in. The team had some struggles during the 1983 season, but managed to win the Gold Cup (Chip's second in a row) and ultimately win three races to claim the points crown for the 1983 season, their second in a row.
