ERCU 2018 Awards Banquet
If you could send us a quick email to email@example.com, that would be helpful to ensure our reservation.
ERCU End of Year Banquet
To All ERCU Members, Family and Friends –
As previously announced at our drivers meetings and on the club website, the time has come for our annual ERCU awards banquet. 2018 has been an incredible year full of fun and great racing. We cordially invite everyone to attend this year’s dinner this Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 5pm – 7:30pm at Country Cousin’s (1054 Harrison Ave, Centralia, WA 98531). This year, I have chosen a more family centric approach for our dinner instead of inviting speakers as we have in previous years. We have gotten to know each other and grown the club in a lot of ways. This is a testament to the sportsmanship and love of hydroplanes from each member of our club. There will be no pre-orders of dinner since we wanted to open the menu up to everyone. Each member and family member in attendance will be responsible for their portion of dinner. We encourage you to bring your families. They have supported us all year and we want to show them the same support for this fun evening. During the awards banquet, we will honor our season champions (driver and boat), Contest Director of the Year, Most Improved Drivers, Sportsmanship, Sponsor of the Year, Contribution Award and of course, our new inductee into the ERCU Hall of Fame.
If interested, the 2018 ERCU board will be closing business before the dinner. The board will meet at the restaurant from 3pm – 5pm to discuss some proposed rule changes. Our main aim is to get an immediate start to the 2019 season. We invite anyone to attend this gathering. Please reach out if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.
I am honored to have served as this year’s chair and look forward to celebrating with each one of you.

ERCU Board of Director's Elections
The nominations for the 2019 ERCU Board of Directors is complete. There were four openings and four nominations. We want to thank Ben Keller for serving on the board and will enjoy seeing him continuing to be active with all of the ERCU Stats. Since there are four nominations and four who accepted the nominations, no voting needs to commence. We want to congratulate Jerry Dunlap, Robbie Roberts, Kerry Kjos and JimmeJames Cusworth for agreeing to serve on the 2019 ERCU Board of Directors. Thank you for all of their hard work and service to ERCU.

It is our intent to have the course set by 8:00 a.m., so that testing can commence once boats are registered for the event. With the possibility that there may be new boats that need to be inspected or rookie drivers who may need to take a driving test, please plan to arrive early on Saturday morning. The water will be open for testing until 10am with the drivers meeting set to begin at that time and modern heat 1A to follow the drivers meeting.
ERCU always welcomes new members to the club and visiting racers from other clubs. If a rookie driver needs to be qualified, we will close the course during the test session for the rookie driving test as often is as necessary. The full procedure for rookie qualifications, and for visiting drivers, is in the rulebook, see below).
Please review the rulebook as is posted on the ERCU website, available under the Resources tab. The Contest Director/Chief Referee will make every effort to be sure that officiating is consistent with the rules as published on the website, and that every effort is made to assure consistency in officiating.
As noted above, it is possible that there will be new boats in the pits that need to be inspected. We ask that you print out the 2019 Hull Inspection Form, found on the Resources tab, and complete the member information at the top of page one prior to arriving at the race site. Please also remember to bring a photo of the real boat (a photo on your phone or tablet is acceptable) that your boat models. Robbie Roberts, ERCU technical inspector, and Kerry Kjos, scale inspector, will be inspecting new boats over the first few races, and having these resources will make it easier for all.
