Hovercraft clients include the Seattle Seahawks, Starbucks, REI Coop, Nordstrom, T-Mobile and a number of other major businesses with a large presence in the Seattle area.
Robertson also provides graphics and decals for the Graham Trucking U-12 hydroplane. He drove the U-7 Graham Trucking for Ted Porter in 2015 after qualifying in the U-57 Miss Fedco and the U-12 Miss DiJulio in 2014. Robertson also still remains in the top-10 of ERCU vintage driver wins with five, driving Kerry Kjos' 1960 Miss Thriftway during the 2006 season. He scored 11,209 points that season for a third place finish in vintage class drivers points. ERCU Race Coordinator David Heilbrunn has confirmed that the 2025 schedule has been finalized, without any changes from the tentative schedule posted in early January.
For the second straight year, ERCU will conduct a 12 race season, with the best 10 counting for ERCU Championship Series points. The 2025 series includes a new race site at South County Park (Wallace Pond) in Toledo, Wash. The Seafair Trophy Race will be run at that site, as will a preseason Test, Tune and Inspect event. The schedule marks a return to Marysville, for two races -- the Jack Regas Memorial and the Bernie Little Memorial -- after insurance concerns were worked through. Vance Creek Park in Elma will also host a pair of races -- the season opening Champion Spark Plug Regatta and the season closing Atomic Cup. We'll race on the Bill Mowatt Memorial Race Course in Lacey three times this season -- the Roger Newton Memorial, the ERCU Gold Cup and the Detroit Memorial Regatta. Single stop race sites include Scott Lake (Olympia) for the Diamond Cup, Irene Reinhardt Riverfront Park (Ellensburg) for the President's Cup, Waughop Lake for the Governor's Cup, and Longview for the Stan Sayres Memorial. The proposed rule changes have been approved and we now officially have rules for the 2025 ERCU Championship Series.
With a 77.1 percent voter turnout, the election easily exceeds the 67.7 percent minimum required by the club's bylaws for a valid election.
The new rule books will be cleaned up, reflecting changes with a different color type, then posted on the website by the end of this week. Members will also receive PDF copies of the books via email as well. We encourage all members to read the books and be familiar with not only the changes/updates, but also to know the rules before the season starts. The online rule book will also be updated with the new format. The 2025 ERCU rules process is ready for member review and vote.
With many thanks to the Competition Committee (Chair: Gerry Bordon, Mike Hughes, Jay Fonville, Tom Markos & Jim Latimer), recommendations were forwarded to the Board of Directors which ratified the changes and is setting them forward for member review and a vote. The ERCU Board of Directors received significant feedback that the rule book needed to be updated for more accuracy in the rules, elimination of redundancies, and making it easier to navigate and find what you're looking for. The format has been updated and modeled after H1 Unlimited's 2024 rule book, divided into three documents including the Racing Rules; Technical Manual; and General Rules. None of the three documents are longer than seven pages. No rules were changed arbitrarily in this process, and the Competition Committee's recommendations have been incorporated into the changes within the documents below for your review. Each of the manuals, with edits, are provided as PDF files for member review via links on the ballot page. In the case of deletions, the deletion was made when a rule was redundant or obsolete (i.e. CD duties have evolved over club history; some rules were listed twice in different places, etc.). In addition to the requested vote on the rulebook (with changes noted in the PDFs of the three documents), members are asked to vote on a rule change pertaining to the definition of classes. A request to "fix" this rule was submitted to the Board and then to the Competition Committee by a number of members requesting specificity and accuracy of representation of boats running in each class. The Competition Committee asked that the board make a recommendation on this to the membership. Click here to see the ballot page. The member vote will be open through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025. Once the membership has voted, the updated rule book documents will be posted to the website and the online rule book will be updated as well. The club will also email PDFs of the the 2025 rule book to each member of the club once it's approved and updated. |
