Race Format

  • Four preliminary heats of five laps each for modern and vintage classes

  • First and second connies for modern and vintage (depending on number of boats).

  • First connie winner advances to the final as a trailer.

  • Second connie winner advances to the first connie as a trailer

  • Second place boat in the first connie is an alternate for the final

  • Winner-take-all championship finals for modern and vintage

  • Vintage class boats may use open prop

  • ESU modern and vintage will run before. ERCU modern and vintage in each flight

History of the Real Oryx Cup 

 

The Oryx Cup is a hydroplane boat race in the H1 Unlimited season. The race is held in November in Doha Bay on the Persian Gulf in Doha, Ad Dawhah, Qatar. The Oryx Cup was founded in January 2009 when H1 Unlimited and the Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF) reached an agreement to have the final race of the 2009 H1 Unlimited hydroplane season in Doha, Qatar.
