Notes about the Model: Although completed in 2019, 2021 was the first racing season for this hull. After some retro fitting by
Robbie Roberts, the U-33 finished a solid Third place in the Classic Division ERCU Gold Cup. Later, at Chelan, she also finished third place in the 1/10th scale RCU Gold Cup.
Notes about the Real Boat: The real boat was constructed in 1979 as the U-2 Squire Shop. After a late season blowover on Lake
Washington, she was replaced by her sister ship, the former 1979 Miss Circus Circus, after being acquired from Al Letcher. The damaged Squire Shop hull was acquired by Jim Grader, who along with Brian Anderson and others completely rebuilt the hull and converted her to Turbo-Allison power for the 1985 season. At Tri-Cities, the boat failed to qualify on both Friday and Saturday with Ron Snyder at the wheel. She was given one final chance on Sunday morning to qualify. She was "officially" entered as U-33
pending the morning run. If she qualified, she would be racing as U-33, Miss Tri Cities Savings and Loan. After a solid start, she was well on her way to meeting the minimum speed as she headed up the backstretch when she lost a wastegate on one of the turbos, ending the attempt. The following week in Seattle, she acquired the sponsorship of Crown Nissan, but again failed to qualify.
Notes about 2021: Third Place Classic, ERCU Gold Cup; Eleventh Place Classic, Season High Points.
