Dennis Caines has reminded us about this several times.
And now it's upon us. The ERCU exhibition that Dennis Caines has arranged at Scott Lake, south of Tumwater, is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 14 and the club reminds members who might be able to attend it's a great opportunity to show the community leaders what we do, and how we might be a good fit for Scott Lake before or after the swimming season concludes in future seasons. Saturday's exhibition event will take the format of a test and tune, and is open to anyone who would like to run FE model boats. The details are as follows: WHO: ERCU members, and other FE model hydroplane racers, who would like an opportunity to test and tune while showing off to community and neighborhood leaders how model boat racing works at Scott Lake. WHAT: ERCU Exhibition (test & tune format) for FE model hydroplanes. Hot dogs and hamburger lunches will also be provided free to attendees. WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, set up begins at 7:30 a.m. WHERE: Scottlake Private Community Park, 2500-2524 Scotlac Dr SW, Olympia, WA 98512. Click here for directions from your departure location. WHY: Opportunity to help community and neighborhood leaders understand our hobby and how it could work to put on an actual race at Scott Lake in future years. HOW: Just show up. No pre-registration. No fees. There will not be heat draws, but we do intend to run some random mock heats and use a starting clock at times in order to provide an accurate picture of what a race looks like. QUESTIONS: Contact Dennis Caines by phone or by text at 360.888.8738. This morning, we received the following message from Mitch Dillard, who along with Robbie Roberts and Rick Evans, is working to help Craig Bradshaw's sister Stacy through the process of care for Craig's shop and the boats left in it.
Please take a look at the message below if you're interested in any of these projects to take into your own shop and finish up for the 2024 season. From Mitch: Hello everyone, as most of you probably know, Craig Bradshaw of West Coast Custom Boats recently passed away. I've been trying to help his daughter Stacy with matters surrounding his shop and the things he had in it when he died. I've created a photo gallery on the CT Flickr site and listed some of the boats we found there for sale. They are in various stages of completion and are certainly priced to sell quickly. Some are even painted and have some hardware installed. I've put details on the photos along with the sale prices. Please take a look at the gallery, post the gallery link to your local club sites and social media pages, and let folks know there are some deals to be found, especially if they are looking for a project to finish. There's even a gas scale hull for sale and some smaller scale project boats and a couple of SV27 hulls if you're interested. Since Craig's death, we've discovered very few records were kept, so we've done our best to resolve any issues with boat owners who have come forward to claim boats that he had been working on for them and could verify they had paid for. The boats in this gallery are not spoken for. However, if you recognize something and can provide proof of ownership or payment, you should let me know right away so I can inform Stacy that verification is coming. Craig generally received payment after he completed boat projects and was ready to deliver them to customers. You can contact Stacy to discuss payment arrangements and she'll let me know which boats have been sold. After viewing the gallery, you can contact me with any additional questions about the boats themselves. Thanks for taking a look! Note: You can view the album as a slideshow by selecting the slideshow icon at the top right of the gallery. There are other viewing options there too, but I find that one the most helpful. The ERCU Bylaws say that the Board Chair shall poll members of the board at the end of the year to decide who our annual End of Season Award winners are. This year, the board has decided it would like input from the membership for the 2023 ERCU End of Season Awards.
As such, at the end of the season, are asking you to provide nominations in the following categories. From those nominations, the board will fulfill its duty to select award winners. The annual awards that we’re seeking your input on include:
Please click here to easily nominate fellow members (or yourself) for consideration of these annual ERCU End of Season Awards. You may enter as many names as you would like to enter. Nominations will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8 when we’ll close nominations and the board will then make selections from those nominated. |
