Nelson Holmberg has been busy in his shop this winter.
Having stripped all of the black vinyl off of the 1/7 scale Graham Trucking, he decided it was time to paint the boat with the 2021 livery, so stripped the hardware, sanded the hull and "hired" Tom Markos to paint the beautiful craft for him. Now that paint is finished the boat will be receiving updated vinyl to complete the livery. It's expected to be ready for the Roger Newton RC Model Boat Show at the Museum on February 18.
Nelson is also working on a new-to-him 1/10 scale modern that is on its way to becoming the 2022 Beacon Plumbing. As a new member of Bucket List Racing Team, Nelson decided it was a priority to build this hull for his new 1/10 scale modern. He bought the hull from Mark Gran in November and has been making hull modifications to it, while also completing hardware, motor and electronics set up. The deck is about ready to be glued on. It'll be a work-in-progress at the show next month.
Finally, Holmberg's new 1/7-scale classic hull will be the 1976 Atlas Van Lines ("Winged Wonder") is also getting close. He picked up his new cowling for the hull, and is working on motor, hardware and systems installation as well. This boat also will be a work-in-progress at the H&RM in February.
